Federation Woman Chosen as Majority Whip

Columbia , South Carolina The South Carolina Federation of Republican Women (SCFRW) is pleased to announce that Representative Nikki Haley, R-Lexington, a member of the West Metro Republican Women and the SCFRW, has been chosen as a Majority Whip by the House Republican Caucus. This is Representative Haley’s third position of leadership during her freshman term in the General Assembly, and she is the only freshman member to serve in this capacity this year.

Along with her position as Majority Whip, Rep. Haley will continue to serve as secretary of the Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs Committee and chairman of the Freshman Caucus.

"Rep. Haley was selected because of her proven leadership skills," said fellow SCFRW member and Republican Chief Whip Shirley Hinson, R-Goose Creek. "She is always prepared when we go to the floor, and she's passionate about issues of concern to her constituents."

"Representative Haley's strong leadership skills are recognized by her peers in the statehouse and by her constituents," noted LaDonna Ryggs, President of the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women. " SCFRW congratulates her on this third major accomplishment in her freshman term and looks forward to many more years of distinction and excellence in public service."

As Majority Whip, Rep. Haley will be responsible for lining up votes in support of Caucus priorities and setting the direction of the 74-member Republican majority.
